HOMETOWN heroes Sheppard will perform at Monday's APRA Music Awards, being held in Brisbane for the first time.

The 2014 awards, which recognise the best in Australian songwriting, will be held at Brisbane City Hall and will be hosted by RocKwiz's Brian Nankervis.

Brisbane six-piece Sheppard are back home supporting Keith Urban after a massive year, including an North American tour, off the back of hit single Geronimo.

The song is the longest independently released ARIA chart-topping single and the band is the first indie act to top the Aussie singles chart in a decade.

Also performing at Monday's awards are Megan Washington, Colin Hay, Gossling, Melody Pool and Ben Salter.

Lindy Morrison, the 2014 APRA Ted Albert recipient, will also perform with Big Scary, Amanda Brown and Robert Vickers.

Brisbane's "first lady of rock 'n' roll" Carol Lloyd will also take to the stage with her band.

Robert Forster and Amanda Brown of The Go-Betweens will present an award, as will Brisbane songstress Kate Miller-Heidke.

The awards will air on Foxtel's MAX channel on July 9.
