Sharks prop Andrew Fifita accepts ban for shoulder charge

INTERIM Sharks coach Peter Sharp has been dealt another blow with representative prop Andrew Fifita to miss the next two matches after taking an early guilty plea to a grade two shoulder charge.

Fifita, who told teammates after Monday night's 18-12 loss to the Titans that he had accepted a $3.4 million, four-year deal to join the Bulldogs from next season, had originally said he would contest the charge for his hit on Gold Coast winger David Mead. The Sharks will also be without fellow front-rower Siosaia Vave after he also took an early guilty plea for his grade one dangerous contact charge.

Cronulla skipper Paul Gallen is expected to miss six weeks after injuring his ankle on Monday night.

Meanwhile, the Titans yesterday re-signed Luke Douglas for another three seasons. The 27-year-old is in doubt for Sunday's home match against Wests Tigers with a thumb injury.
