Serious injuries as driver smashes into parked car

A MAN is in a serious condition after crashing into a parked car on a Sunshine Coast esplanade overnight.

Emergency crews were called to the crash at Peregian Beach, on the Peregian Esplanade near Avocet Pde, just before midnight.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said it appeared the man had crashed his car into a parked car on the street.

When officers arrived, he had freed himself from the wreckage and was walking around, but as paramedics assessed the man he was going in and out of consciousness.

Paramedics reported the man was in a serious but stable condition, and took him to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

A critical care paramedic was on board the ambulance for the transport.
