Senior Labor figure accused of raping teen girl at function

POLICE are investigating allegations that a senior Labor figure raped a teenage woman at a party function in the 1980s.

The sexual assault allegedly took place in 1986 on a Young Labor camp in Portarlington, near Geelong, according to News Corp.

The victim had posted her recollection of the incident on Facebook: "At about 4am there was a knock at my door ... He pushed me into a bathroom up against a towel rail, pulled down my pants and raped me."

Lawyers for the man told The Australian the allegations were "absolutely without foundation" and said he had not been contacted by police.

The woman, who now lives in NSW, made a formal complaint to Victoria Police last month.
