MORE human remains have been uncovered in the search for Daniel Morcombe.

Two weeks after bones found in bushland at the Glasshouse Mountains were confirmed to be those of Daniel's, police say they have located more remains.

Today police confirmed more human remains had been sent for forensic testing.

They were located in the last week at the primary search site off Kings Rd, where Daniel's bones and two shoes were previously found.

In a statement to media, police said the Morcombe family had been kept updated about the search.

"As a result of further discussions between the Queensland Police Service and the Morcombe family, it has been decided to scale back from weekly updates and only publicise significant developments about the search from today onwards," the police said in a statement.

Forensic testing is still being done on the two shoes, which match the size and brand of the ones Daniel was wearing when he disappeared on December 7, 2003.

Police and SES volunteers continued the search today as Bruce and Denise Morcombe began their journey from Cairns back to south east Queensland following their road trip for Child Safety Week.
