FORMER radio queen Sammy Power says her body used to be a bar and grill - but now it's a temple.

The chief executive of Jan Powers Farmers Markets has halved her body weight, dropping from 120kg to 60kg.

Discussing her body transformation with the Brisbane News, the 52-year-old said her journey hadn't been easy.

"I have broken about 20 personal trainers in my time," she said. "Everyone says they don't have time. Yes you do. You just do it."

As well as her new-found healthy lifestyle, Power said a tumultuous breakup had also fed into her revamped philosophy of self-love.

"I was involved with a nightmare man but I'm grateful to him because it blew up my whole world and I've done so many amazing things since I realised what sort of person I want in my life," she said.

"I've got better vision and standards. I have decided to surround myself with people who lift me up and are on the same page as me.

"I believe someone is going to come, but it's going to have to be a pretty great guy because I never used to think I was great and now I think I'm a prize."

Power ditched her high-flying Sydney radio career five years ago to move back to Brisbane and help her ill mother, Jan, run the family's famous farmers' markets.
