Romance scam costs resident 'thousands' police say

A RECENT alleged romance scam has been reported to Mackay police prompting a warning which should be heeded by any one out there seeking companionship online.

The incident reported to police appears to have cost the victim an exceedingly high amount of money - many tens of thousands of dollars.

The victim met the third party through an online dating service, after some time spent communicating with them, the requests for money began - and these requests have been relentless since.
