Roma floodwaters start to recede

ABOUT 100 homes were inundated during yesterday’s floods in Roma as the creek starts to recede.

Roma’s Bungil Creek peaked at 7.6 metres at 4pm yesterday, half a metre short of the predicted 8.1 metre peak.

The creek had receded to 7.15 meters by 6am today.

Thirty-seven residents checked into an evacuation centre at the RSL Hall on Northern Road yesterday.

Eight stayed overnight, while others billeted with family and friends.

Ergon restored power to 130 homes overnight, and has brought in extra personnel to test and reconnect a further 250 as waters recede.
