Federer rolls on as stars fall around him
ROGER Federer has downed Federico Delbonis 6-3, 7-6 in the second round at Indian Wells.
His first event since becoming the oldest player to clinch the No.1 ranking, Federer improved to 13-0 in 2018, but will need to reach the semi-finals or risk being overtaken by Rafael Nadal.
In a rain-affected encounter that saw the match start on Sunday (AEST) and resume on Monday, the players were forced off the court due to rain in the second set with the score even at 2-2.
Returning Monday to finish things off; the Swiss star saved a set point and eventually took the second set tie break 8-6.
