Rocky taxi driver had knife held to throat in armed robbery

A TAXI driver faced a terrifying ordeal last night after a knife was held to his throat in an armed robbery.

The driver was taking two men from Bolsover St to Alma St in a maxi taxi when the incident occurred.

When the driver pulled up in Alma St one of the passengers leaned from the backseat and held the knife to his throat.

They demanded his takings from the night and escaped with a sum of cash.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Nick Williams said due to the small distance between their two destinations it was a possibility that the men called a taxi with the intention of robbing it.

They are described as Caucasian, and between the ages of 18 and 24.
