Girl, 16, among two killed in Gin Gin crash horror

TWO more young lives have been lost on the region's roads after a horrific smash at Gin Gin.

A man aged in his late 20s and a girl, 16, were killed about 1.30am on Saturday when the sedan they were travelling in left Tablelands Rd and went down an embankment before smashing into trees.

Both rear passengers, two males aged 40 and 17 from Gin Gin, were taken to Bundaberg Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

"The driver and the front passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene," a police spokesman said.

Forensic Crash Unit officers investigated the scene at Dalysford.

The deaths bring the NewsMail readership area's road toll so far this year to 19.

Less than a month ago, a 20-year-old man died at Calavos when the ute he was a passenger in crashed.

Only a fortnight before that, five people were killed on the Bruce Hwy near Howard when the car they were travelling in collided with a truck.

There have been 14 fatal crashes in the region since the start of the year.
