LONG serving Lockyer MP Ian Rickuss is the newest Government MP to be promoted in the Queensland Government, with his appointment to committee roles.

Mr Rickuss is now part of both the Select Committee on Ethics and also the Parliamentary Crime and Misconduct Committee.

The Parliamentary CMC committee has been embroiled in controversy in recent weeks, with Premier Campbell Newman sacking the existing membership and replacing it with new faces, including Mr Rickuss.

"The appointment to these committees will mean an increase in workload, however, I am fortunate enough to have experienced staff who assist with the committees and also my electorate staff are a great asset to myself and the Lockyer community," Mr Rickuss said.

"I look forward to being able to assist the Parliament of Queensland manage some of the difficult issues that come before the committees."

It is unclear if his service in these committee roles will now pave the way for Mr Rickuss, one of the most experienced government MPs in the parliament, to be selected for a ministerial position before the next election.
