IT WAS the moment a mother's prayers were answered.
As morning traffic passed by on Bent St, South Grafton, she wrapped her four-year-old in her arms after he had been missing all night.
The boy had been collected by his father from a Grafton childcare centre about 3pm on Monday.
After the boy was not taken to his mother's house, police issued urgent alerts asking for public help to locate him and his father.
Police found them in a white Toyota Hilux on Bent St, South Grafton just before 7.30am yesterday.
The four-year-old appeared safe and well, and was reunited with his mother a short time later.
His mother said only that she was "relieved" to have her boy back.
Speaking to the media yesterday afternoon, Detective Inspector Darren Jameson thanked the public for their assistance.
"We'd just like to pass on the thanks of the NSW Police to the public that assisted us over the last 12 hours in relation to the work that's been done to try to locate the child."
