Nova Peris overlooked for AFL job

RETIRING senator and former Olympian Nova Peris has been overlooked by the AFL for the job of general manager of inclusion and social policy.

AFL boss Gillon McLachlan announced yesterday that indigenous rights campaigner Tanya Hosch had emerged as the "standout candidate" for the position.

Ms Hosch, the joint campaign director of the Recognise movement for constitutional reform, will work with the AFL Indigenous Advisory Council on the league's respect and responsibility policy, and help implement the AFL's gender action plan.
