Report: Clive Palmer wants inquiry into Qld Govt

CLIVE Palmer wants to launch an inquiry into accusations of rorting, conflicts of interests and human rights abuses by Queensland's state government, according to media reports.

News Corp is reporting the Palmer United Party sought backing from Labor and the Greens for a "Select Committee on Certain Aspects of Queensland Government Administration".

The inquiry would have the power to compel witnesses, and be expected to report back to Federal Parliament by March 31 next year.

The timing would ensure the inquiry publishes its findings as the LNP heads prepares to contest the state election.

PUP Queensland Senator Glenn Lazarus is expected to move the motion.

The reports refer to the PUP's suggested terms of reference, that would include a look at how federal money was spent, "performance measures" to account for that spending and how much of the state's budget came from the Commonwealth.

It would also include a section on international human rights laws, with the inquiry to consider "the nature of medical (including psychological) assessments conducted on people appointed by the Queensland Cabinet to any government role".

This new scheme to attack the Queensland Government is the latest is a string of confrontations between the mining magnate and the state's governing LNP.

Mr Palmer is currently suing Queensland Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney for defamation and has previously described Mr Newman as a "Nazi".
