Relay For Life needs you
MOTIVATED locals are being urged to get behind their community by joining the volunteer organising committee for Cancer Council Queensland's 2012 Lockyer Valley Relay For Life.
An information evening about Relay For Life, with a focus on forming a new organising committee, will be held tonight at 6pm at Peace Lutheran Hall, East Street, Gatton and interested locals of all ages are invited to attend.
Regional Relay For Life co-ordinator for Cancer Council Queensland Kathryn Kenyon is looking forward to getting the plans under way for the next Relay For Life and is inviting motivated volunteers, interested teams and a whole host of dedicated supporters to attend.
"The individuals who volunteer their time to organise this event will be playing an important role in the fight against cancer.
"Relay For Life is a fantastic community event and the past success of the Lockyer Valley Relay For Life is a testament to the strong support of the local community.
"We are calling for nominations to fill a variety of roles on the volunteer committee at this information evening and prospective members can be assured there is plenty of support and guidebooks to assist each role," Ms Kenyon said.
"Relay For Life is an 18 hour overnight community fundraising event where we gather as a community to celebrate life, remember loved ones lost, show our support for those affected by cancer and fight back against a disease that takes too much," Ms Kenyon said.
