Mackay winter temperatures colder than Melbourne

TIME to pull out the scarves, boots and winter coats.

A low of 7.9 degrees was recorded in Mackay at 7am according to the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM).

Meanwhile a chilly temperature of 5.7 degrees was recorded at 5.26am today.

Our coldest day this month was June 22 when a low of 10.9 degrees was recorded.

It's already looking to be a colder winter as the lowest temperature recorded for the same time last year was on June 7 where a low of 11.9 degrees was recorded by BoM.

Meanwhile in Melbourne it was 9.5 degrees at 7am, just a little warmer than our region.

Brisbane was 9.2 degrees about 7am.
