Region pitches in for race day

THE Lockyer Race Club will be hosting the Lockyer Valley Flood Appeal Race Day next Saturday.

Organiser Mellissa Meldrum said it will be a chance for the community to get together and show support for the many families affected by the floods.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council and Lockyer Valley Crime Stoppers will support the event.

According to Lockyer Valley Crime Stoppers Area Committee Chairperson, Councillor Janice Holstein, the race day plans are well underway to ensure a great event which will support the local community.

“Much of our community is hurting from this horrific disaster and we need to do all we can to support each other,” Cr Holstein said.

“This has been a catastrophic event in the state's history.

“Sadly the loss of lives from this event is difficult to comprehend and I feel we all need to support each other in these difficult times as we rebuild our families, our community and our lives,” she said.

Tickets to the marquee are available at the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre for $49.50 each.

There will be raffles on the day and to make a donation call Mellissa on 5462 2850.
