‘D***head of the Year Award’: Ronaldo mocked

CRISTIANO Ronaldo scored two goals but was mocked on social media after Real Madrid's 7-1 thrashing of  Deportivo La Coruna  in the Spanish league.

Ronaldo was forced off the field after heading home his second goal, bloodied from a cut above the eye from a defender's high boot.

What upset the social media was that after the doctor cleaned up the blood spilling down the Portuguese superstar's face, Ronaldo asked for the doctor's phone so he could take a look at the extent of his injuries.

After assessing the damage, Ronaldo left the field, despite his side having already made three substitutions, although the much-needed victory was already secured by then.

Real ended a three- match winless streak at home, easing the pressure on coach Zinedine Zidane.

Gareth Bale and Nacho Fernandez also scored twice, and Luka Modric added another goal for Madrid as they regained fourth place in the standings, cutting the deficit to Barcelona to a still massive 16 points.

With a game in hand, Madrid are five points behind third-place Valencia, and one point in front of fifth-places Villarreal.

Deportivo, in the relegation zone and winless in five games, gave Bernabeu fans an early scare when Adrian Lopez opened the scoring midway through the first half.

Madrid were coming off a 1-0 loss to Villarreal, a 2-2 draw against second- division club Numancia in the Copa del Rey and a demoralizing 3-0 defeat to rival Barcelona.
