Rare supercar from the prestige Lexus stable

TODAY'S feature is on one extraordinary supercar, the 2012 Lexus LFA. The LFA started production in December 2010, and at the end of 2012 Lexus announced that the 500th LFA has been built, and it will no longer be in production.

Fortunately, 10 of these beauties made it onto Australian soil.

This particular LFA is one of three that are currently in Queensland. Also, if you are interested in purchasing an LFA in Australia, unfortunately they were sold at the end of 2010.

Up front of this LFA sits a 4.8-litre, 40 valve V10 engine which can produce up to 406 kilowatts (552 horsepower) at 8700rpm and 480 Newton metres of torque (354 pound-feet of torque) at 7000 rpm, and the redline is at whopping 9000rpm. This exquisite piece of machinery also has a curb weight of about 1480 kilograms, which is 5 kilograms lighter than the Ferrari 458 Italia, and 95 kilograms lighter than the Lamborghini Aventador.

This allows the LFA to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.7 seconds with two passengers, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches its top speed of 325kmh (202 mph).

Connected to the engine is a six-speed automatic transmission, with manual shifting paddles, which then sends the power to the rear wheels, which also helps with the amazing acceleration time.

Out the rear of the LFA you can see the three exhaust pipes that were designed by the Yamaha Acoustic Department over in Japan. They gave the exhaust an almost F1 like sound, and you can hear it in the video at the bottom of this blog.

The 4.8-litre 10-cylinder engine is also capable of revving from 0-9000rpm in just 0.6 seconds.

This particular Lexus is equipped with front 20 x 9.5 inch and rear 20 x 11.5 inch five-spoke forged alloy wheels which are both wrapped in Bridgestone performance tyres specifically made for the LFA, an automatic rear spoiler, intermittent wipers, double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, a front and rear stabiliser bar, carbon ceramic front and rear disc brakes, four-wheel ABS as well as traction and stability control, xenon headlights, emergency braking assist and electronic brake force distribution, tire pressure monitoring, a premium black leather interior with front red sport seats, a Lexus F performance steering wheel with carbon fibre and red leather inserts, dual-zone climate control, 12 speakers, satellite navigation and much more.

When the 10 LFA's coming to Australia were sold to their owners, they each had to hand over $750,000 to own this beautiful machine, and if they were to sell it, I would guess that someone would pay over $1,000,000 to own their own Lexus LFA.
