Range's slippery issue

TRAFFIC on the Warrego Highway was thrown into disarray after a landslide on the western side of the Marburg range on Thursday.

One westbound lane of the highway was closed immediately after 280 cubic metres of soil slipped down to the barriers on the side of the highway, about 500m west of Tallegalla-Two Tree Hill Road on the Minden side of the range.

A spokesman for Transport and Main Roads said the highway was reopened to two lanes on Monday morning, with a reduced speed limit of 80kmh.

The spokesman said further investigations would take place to assess the damage and to determine the scope of works to be carried out, which would necessitate further road closures.
