Rally looms for bucket of bolts
TWO Lockyer Valley residents are taking to the road in what most would call a heap of scrap in order to raise money for a good cause.
Kurt Heitzmann and Shannon Coghlan will drive from Melbourne to Cairns in a $1000 car as part of the 2012 Cancer Council New South Wales fundraiser, the Sh*tbox Rally.
The pair bought their 'sh*tbox' (an old yellow Ford Falcon) for the rally last week, and after a clean and minor mechanical work, are set for the rally in April next year.
Mrs Coghlan said they had already raised $1000 and were hoping to meet the minimum target of $4000 in order to enter.
"We'll meet the target. There might be some last minute scrambling but we will get there," she said.
"It's going to be great meeting new people and seeing the red centre. I've never been that far out west."
Mrs Coghlan said they were looking forward to being a part of the event which raises money for the Cancer Council.
"Every one of us has been affected by cancer in some way and the Cancer Council is critical in supporting loved ones and those battling or who have been lost to cancer," she said.
"Their research is essential to finding a cure."
Mrs Coghlan encouraged everyone to show their support for the rally and the Cancer Council by donating to their fundraising page at everydayhero.com.au/kiss_my_anthia.
