Rainy weekend for Mackay and surrounds
WHAT'S with the weather in Mackay?
We are dealing with unseasonable muggy, windy and drizzly conditions and it's all because remnants of the big wet down south are coming our way.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Harry Clark told NewsRegional the weather radar showed a "fair few" showers across our region.
While the temperature of 20-28 degrees is consistent with previous years, the rain is bucking the normal October trend when we usually record about 34mm.
With two weeks to go before the end of the month, we have already notched up 29mm.
Mr Clark said the region was "quite humid for this time of the year".
He said the rain would ease on Friday but it was only a brief reprieve.
"The showers will probably ease Friday and then on Saturday and Sunday an upper trough system will move into the area and we will see more showers," Mr Clark said.
"We have a very moist air mass over the east coast of Queensland and that's why we're seeing such extensive shower and rain activities."
