Raiders tie-up McCrone for another two


THE Canberra Raiders may have missed out on luring a stack of big names to the nation's capital from next year but the club has heralded the re-signing of a local junior.

Playmaker Josh McCrone has re-signed until at least the end of the 2016 season.

"I'm pleased to have my future secure here in Canberra ... I believe we have a team who can improve and become a finals contender," McCrone (pictured) said.

Canberra has missed out on signing James Tedesco, Josh Mansour, Kevin Proctor and Michael Ennis this year.

Rising Melbourne Storm playmaker Cody Walker has signed with South Sydney on a two-year deal.

The reigning Queensland Cup Player of the Year will join the club from 2015.

Walker, 24, has been an integral member of the Easts Tigers, Melbourne's Queensland Cup affiliate, and has been unlucky not to get a start in the NRL this season due to an untimely hamstring injury.
