Queensland's lotto hotspots revealed

BUNDABERG, Yamanto and Chinchilla have been identified as Queensland lotto hotspots this year making some lucky punters overnight millionaires.

Golden Casket statistics revealed on Tuesday showed Queensland players scored 69 division one prizes across all lotto products resulting in more than $65 million in prize money.

One lucky punter from the Ipswich suburb of Yamanto can lay claim to winning the biggest singular lotto prize in the state this year when they took home $2.5million in the mid-year lotto megadraw.

Bundaberg made the top 10 luckiest suburbs this year after two residents took home a staggering $1,472,444 in lotto wins throughout the year.

One punter from Chinchilla on the Darling Downs is $2,038,635 richer after scooping the pool, bringing them in as the state's eighth biggest lotto winner across all games.

They were edged out in seventh position after a punter from Mirani, west of Mackay, took home $2.22 million.

Golden Casket spokeswoman Belinda McDougall said the figures for the year from December 1, 2012 did not take into account the staggering $70 million Oz Lotto win at Runaway Bay in mid-December.

"It will certainly put the Runaway Bay postcode in a strong position for next year's hotspot results," she said.

"It is exciting to reveal where the most lotto wins occur each year, but it is important to remember that every number on your ticket has an equal chance of being drawn, no matter where you buy your ticket."
