A BRISBANE 22-year-old won the people's choice award in a worldwide travel competition with a $10,000 overall travel prize up for grabs.

Alexandra Franco took out her award for a video she created, called Queensland.

The video includes scenes from the Sunshine Coast and further north.

The winner of Cover-More's Ultimate Traveller video was Canadian Tyler Cave, 25, who showcased the rugged natural beauty and outdoor adventures that await visitors to Vancouver Island.

Tyler won a $10,000 travel prize and a GoPro with his entry Backyard Paradise.

Alexandra won a $1000 travel voucher for her efforts.

After graduating from criminology, Tyler discovered his passion for filmmaking and storytelling, which has lead him on adventures around the world, but nothing quite compares to the inspiration he feels exploring his own backyard.

Taking viewers on an outdoor adventure with backdrops of cascading waterfalls to stunning glaciers, plus awe-inspiring encounters with wildlife including whales and bears, organisers say Tyler truly embodies the spirit of the Ultimate Ambassador.

"Canada is a film maker's paradise," he says.

"Vancouver Island is just a slice of what this amazing country has to offer."
