Queensland snowboarder dies at Perisher

A 25-year-old male staff member at a popular Perisher ski resort was found dead in a creek next to a ski run after what police described as a ''snowboarding accident''.

The death occurred on the same night police and ambulance services rescued three other snow-goers who had become lost while skiing in the Guthega area.

Police said Gerard Berger, from Queensland, had been snowboarding with friends when he became separated from the group just after 12.30pm on Wednesday.

NSW Police were contacted by the deceased man's employer at the resort about 10.50pm after he failed to arrive for his rostered shift.

A search began when it was discovered he had not returned from snowboarding earlier in the day. His body was found at 11.30pm.
