TOUGH STUFF: James Tamou of the NSW Blues (right) grabs Corey Parker of the Queensland Maroons. DAN PELED

Darius Boyd 9½

So safe and always well positioned at the back and a threat close to the Blues' line when he chimed in to his team's attack, as evident in Gagai's second try. Also returned the ball superbly, defused bombs and made try-saving tackles.

Corey Oates 7½

Belongs at this level. Nothing fazes him and helped out his forwards with some strong carries in the first half. Deserving match-winning try for all his efforts.

Greg Inglis 7

Good yards with with ball in hand and got the better of opposite Dylan Walker.

Justin O'Neill 5½

Quiet game - not too much ball.

Dane Gagai 8½

Freakish talent with five tries in three Origin games. Throwing the ball straight to James Maloney to streak away for the Blues' second try was his only blight.

Johnathan Thurston 9½

Absolutely dominated the second half with the game on the line. The guy is a magician and always stands up in the clutch moments, and kicked 5/6.

Cooper Cronk 5½

Not his best night but managed the game well.

Matt Scott 6½

Easy metres early in the first half with some strong carries. Even mopped up a Josh Reynolds grubber as good as any fullback would.

Cameron Smith (capt) 7½

Early break gave the Maroons early momentum. Brilliant long-range touch-finder five minutes into the second half, and another huge work-rate in defence.

Josh McGuire 8

Strong game with tough carries and good defence

Matt Gillett 8

Another sound all-round game, and dragged Blues defenders on many occasions.

Sam Thaiday 6

Ill-disciplined lifting tackle on Paul Gallen put him on report. His strong driving tackle with Michael Morgan to trap Matt Moylan in goal in the 54th minute was a massive play.

Corey Parker 8

Good yards and high work rate in defence again.

Deadly offload in a memorable night for his last Origin at Suncorp Stadium.

Michael Morgan 6

Carrying the ball in two hands off the bench kept the NSW defence guessing. Great energy around the park - helped force Matt Moylan back in goal for a crucial drop-out in the 53rd minute.

Jacob Lillyman 6½

A handful to tackle.

Aidan Guerra 5

Not a huge contribution off the bench.

Josh Papalii 7½

Attracted multiple defenders often with his powerful runs.
