Mall siege gunman charged and set to appear in court
UPDATE: Police have confirmed that a man has been charged in relation to an incident at Brisbane City yesterday morning.
The 34-year-old Caboolture man has been charged with five counts of serious assault police and one count each of going armed so as to cause fear and carry exposed weapon in a public place.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 15.
FRIDAY: THE man who shut down Brisbane's Queen Street mall after producing a gun was well known to Sunshine Coast police after leading them on a high speed chase several years ago.
The Daily understands the same man also pleaded guilty to stalking a female police officer.
He repeatedly rang the officer on her mobile phone.
He was given a 12-month restraining order.
A court has previously heard the man was a drug addict who had been in and out of jail since he was 18.
News Ltd is reporting the man was also involved in a bizarre self-harm incident only days ago near Caboolture.
When paramedics arrived he allegedly screamed at them: "I've blown my own fingers off''
The 34-year-old had severe injuries to his arm after firing a home-made shotgun.
Part of his his bicep had been blown off and they found one of his fingers on the roadside.
