Diamonds shine to take control of Quad series
AUSTRALIA is just a game away from winning the Quad series as the only undefeated team in the international event following their four-goal win over England in London.
The Diamonds did what New Zealand could not when they took down the host nation 50-46 in their second game of the series they lost to the Silver Ferns last year.
"It was a great result for us on their turf," captain Caitlin Bassett said.
"What was most pleasing for me was the way we weathered the storm against them.
"They really came back at us in the third and fourth quarters and it was a really physical game but we handled it well."
The victory followed on from Australia's 54-50 win over South Africa on the weekend in the series opener.
Victory against world No.2 New Zealand in their final game in South Africa next week will see the Diamonds claim the last international series before the Commonwealth Games.
The Diamonds shot at 88 per cent against England, nailing 50 of their 57 shots with England shooting at 85 per cent (46 out of 54).
Australia continued to experiment with different combinations with coach Lisa Alexander making numerous changes in both attack and defence.
The Quad series is the final chance for Australian selectors to see players in action before naming a team to play at the Commonwealth Games.
