A WOMAN is fighting for her life after a hit and run in Brisbane.

The 27-year-old woman, suffering critical head injuries, was found on the road at Bowen Hills around 1am on Thursday.

A man is currently assisting police with their inquiries and police have appealed for witnesses to come forward as the forensic crash unit investigates.

Meanwhile, an elderly man is in a critical condition in the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital after being hit by an SUV in Windsor.

He was hit while crossing Bowen St around 7pm on Wednesday.
