Qld Police rammed by suspects 'armed with stolen rifles'

BREAKING: Two armed suspects attempted to run over police officers north of Townsville this morning.

Police responded to reports about 7.55am two armed offenders had rammed a police vehicle and tried to run over officers.

They were last seen in Pappins Rd south of Ingham.

Reports state there were strong indications the people were armed with rifles, stolen from a residence in Ingham.

Gunshots had been heard earlier this morning in the vicinity of Pappins Rd.

The vehicle involved in the incident was described as a white Holden Commodore.

It's believed the two people are in police custody.
