A ROWDY pub patron allegedly tried to put the bite on a police officer who was arresting him in Dalby this morning.

Dalby Police claim the 20-year-old had been arrested for two liquor act offences about 2.30am but became aggressive with police while being taken to the police vehicle.

During a struggle with police, it is alleged he tried to bite a policeman on the forearm then kicked another police officer in the side of the face.

The 20-year-old then tried to run away but was soon tackled and led to the police vehicle.

When eventually placed inside the police vehicle, the man allegedly headbutted and smashed a window of the police car.

He was charged with serious assault of police, wilful damage of police property, assault police and two liquor act offences.

After spending the night in the watch house, the man was bailed to appear in Dalby Magistrates Court on July 8.
