THE LNP has endorsed Bob Andersen, a senior psychologist with Queensland Health, as its candidate for the Stafford by-election.

Mr Andersen, a father of two young children, works at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

"I am passionate about providing a strong voice for the people of Stafford in the Newman LNP Government," Mr Andersen said in a statement on Friday..

"This government has a track record of significant improvement to frontline service delivery in Queensland, including health and education, which are two of my key issues.

"I will work to ensure the people of Stafford continue to benefit from the reforms undertaken by the Newman Government.

LNP President, Bruce McIver, said Mr Andersen provides the people of Stafford with the opportunity to have an outstanding state member.

The previous Stafford MP Dr Chris Davis was dumped by Premier Campbell Newman for failing to follow the party line.

Dr Davis sided with doctors in their dispute with the government and ran a poll in his electorate which found the vast majority against changes to the Crime and Misconduct Commission.

However he ultimately voted with the government on the CMC changes, saying amendments to the bill had satisfied his concerns.

Cabinet ministers have backed the Premier, arguing that party unity was paramount.

Mr Newman declared Dr Davis's position had become untenable on the night of the Federal Budget.

Sunshine Coast MP Peter Wellington accused the Premier of pouncing on the first-term MP, who only recently lost his daughter to a car accident.

Campbell Newman endorsed to run in Ashgrove next year

PREMIER Campbell Newman has been confirmed as the LNP candidate for Ashgrove at the next state election.

LNP State President, Bruce McIver, congratulated Mr Newman who he said is doing an outstanding job leading the LNP parliamentary Team.

"The Premier has the full support of the LNP in guiding his government through the tough but necessary reforms to repair the mess left by Labor," Mr McIver said in a statement on Friday.

"He has also shown tremendous commitment to the people of Ashgrove throughout this process.

"Queensland is now seeing the benefits of the Premier's determination to build a strong, four-pillar economy and improve the delivery of frontline services.

"Campbell Newman is passionate about continuing the good work of the LNP Government Team with a clear and strong plan to ensure a brighter future for all Queenslanders," Mr McIver said.
