Police shut down bikie event

POLICE from Taskforce Vanguard conducted an operation overnight at Nerang focusing on an event at an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) premises.

Last night's operation at Lawrence Drive consisted of a Random Breath Testing (RBT) site and a search warrant executed on the premises. The operation involved officers from Taskforce Vanguard supported by the

Road Safety Command's Drug Testing Unit, and the Public Safety Response Team.

The search warrant resulted in the discovery of liquor allegedly being sold on the premises in contravention of the Liquor Act. Police seized alcohol and cash. Investigations are continuing.

Thirty-two vehicles were intercepted for RBT with a 29-year-old Ormeau man testing positive for drug driving and was charged with unlicenced driving.

Taskforce Vanguard is a joint policing response comprising of officers from the South Eastern police region and State Crime Command's Major and Organised Crime Squad, Taskforce Hydra and the State Firearm Investigation Team.

The taskforce has been formed to target the criminal elements within OMCGs on the Gold Coast and within the South Eastern Region.
