A 23-year-old Laidley man is on the run after crashing his own car and then stealing another.

Laidley police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Jim McDonald said earlier today the man, in a gold Holden Commodore, evaded a traffic branch unit on Laidley-Plainland Road.

Senior Sergeant McDonald said the man subsequently crashed the car near the Laidley caravan park.

The man then fled on foot and stole a car from Railway Street in Laidley.

If anyone sees the 1998 silver Toyota Corolla, registration 180 JXM please contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
