Police allege fatal bashing of Wayne Dover no accident

THREE Sunshine Coast men, charged with the murder of 45-year-old Wayne Dover in the early hours of Saturday morning, have been remanded in custody until January 20.

Blake Nathan Goldsworthy, 26 from North Arm, Wade Leigh Goldsworthy, 27 from Bli Bli and Matthew John Hill, 28 from Coolum Beach, appeared in Maroochydore Magistrate's Court this morning, supported by family and friends.

Sunshine Coast District Criminal Investigation Branch officer in charge Detective Senior Sergeant Daren Edwards said the three men were charged with murder and not manslaughter, because of the alleged nature of the attack.

"Part of the allegations is the seriousness of the attack of the deceased man, I think there's been enough information put out into the community about attacks on people …," he said.

"There's enough information out there, if you want to partake in that type of act that can cause that damage to a person, there's some allegation of intent in that."

Police allege Mr Dover, a popular Australian rules player and Coast businessman, was punched to the ground and repeatedly kicked by the three men after leaving a nightclub about 3.10am Saturday.
