Police raids net drug hauls, hydroponic setup in Agnes

TWO days of police raids have landed another blow to the region's drug trade.

Gladstone Criminal Investigation Branch detectives spent Thursday and Friday in Agnes Water executing a series of search warrants, which delivered at least two big hauls.

One woman was charged with numerous drug-related offences.

Detective Senior Sergeant of Gladstone CIB Luke Peachey said a 62-year-old female now faced various charges related to the production, possession, supply and sale of cannabis as a result of the two-day operation.

"A number of search warrants were executed over the last two days and as a result, we've located a sophisticated hydroponic setup at one residence," he said.

Detectives found about 20 mature cannabis plants at the home of the woman charged, and described the setup as "sophisticated".

"Approximately 20 mature plants were located at the lady's address and the scale of the shed and equipment indicated the level of production was quite significant," Det Snr Sgt Peachey said.

Another significant find to come out of the latest raids was the discovery of about 13 mature cannabis plants at a second Agnes Water address.

Det Snr Sgt Peachey said investigations were continuing and police had yet to identify the persons responsible for the second haul of pot.

Anybody with information is encouraged to contact police.
