Police to investigate political donations allegations

POLICE are investigating allegations about political donations from a firm linked to sidelined bureaucrat Michael Caltabiano, The Australian reports.

The newspaper reports the Electoral Commission has also been advised about what it believes are donations to the LNP from private investment company, Brescia Investments, which has links to Mr Caltabiano and former Queensland senator Santo Santoro.

Mr Caltabiano has stood down from as Transport and Main Roads Department director-general while a parliamentary ethics committee investigates claims he misled a budget estimates hearing last month.
