FOUR Toowoomba police officers have been given District Officer's Awards for their part in saving the life of a young woman.

On July 18 last year, the officers responded to two-vehicle crash on Tor St where Toowoomba resident Breeanna Suey had sustained multiple injuries.

At the Queensland Police Service Darling Downs District awards ceremony at the Empire Church Theatre yesterday, Acting Superintendent Ben Marcus paid tribute to Constable Nicholas McGauley, Const Skye-Marie Thew, Snr Const Geordie Horn and Const Kieran Morris.

Supt Marcus said the officers arrived before the Queensland Ambulance Service and rendered first aide to Ms Suey and took the necessary steps to ensure the safety of the woman and the public.

"Had it not been for those officers, she would not have survived.

"Their actions were remarkable and deserve recognition."

Ms Suey, 18, agreed that the officers saved her life.

"The first thing I wanted to do was buy them flowers and thank them. For three weeks, I went into the station and asked 'are they on?'.

"They ended up coming to my house to see me."

She said they deserved the award "hands down".

A number of other police officers from around the region were also recognised for their efforts with National Police Service Medals and National Medals.

Two new detectives were appointed and a Commissioner's Certificate of Service was issued.

Const Clay Warskitt from Gatton Station was given a District Officer's Award.

Const Warskitt was honoured for his work when on an assignment in Ipswich.

He was instrumental in assisting an Esk crew in peacefully disarming a woman who was having a psychotic episode.
