POLICE have arrested a youth following a scuffle with a large group of young people who were allegedly riding dangerously on scooters through Brisbane's CBD.

Footage showed several police officers involved in a scuffle with some of the young scooter riders.

Police allege the group were travelling the wrong way down roads and were "weaving in out of traffic".

"It appears as though the ride was organised via social media," police said in a statement.

"Preliminary information suggests that police were not advised of this so-called event prior to it happening.

"Police have been liaising with parents who have been arriving at Kangaroo Point to collect their children."

Police believe the group was heading towards Kangaroo Point.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing. No charges have been laid.
