Police called to reports of armed man

POLICE negotiators are on scene at a gated community near Alligator Creek, just south of Townsville. 

A man is believed to be armed with high-powered rifles in the area.

It is understood he rammed his partner's car which had his child in it.

For the public's safety, police are encouraging people to avoid the area.
