Residents reassured after false claims of gunman spark fear

RESIDENTS were reassured there was no cause for concern after police were called to Hibiscus Retirement Village at Sippy Downs following reports of a man with a gun.

Up to seven police vehicles and ambulances converged on the University Way village about 10am yesterday.

A Maroochydore Police spokesman said the village was cordoned off for a short time while police investigated.

Police said a man's body was discovered in a private unit.

They said the death was being treated as non-suspicious.
