'ATM fail' led to machine assault

POLICE are searching for a man who assaulted an ATM in Hervey Bay over the weekend.

A police spokesman confirmed a Heritage Building Society ATM on Central Avenue was damaged on July 22 about 10.20pm.

“It looks like he has got frustrated with a failed transaction and punched it (the ATM)” said the spokesman.

Police will be checking CCTV footage to determine the ATM basher’s identity, he said.
