PLEASE EXPLAIN: why is Pauline Hanson backed to be best PM?

CONTROVERSIAL politician Pauline Hanson will make a better prime minister than Malcolm Turnbull and Bill Shorten if she gets the chance.

That's the verdict of one in 10 Aussies who took part in a recent ReachTEL poll, commissioned by Sportsbet.

As a result of the  1597-person survey, the betting company has moved Ms Hanson's odds of being elected to the Queensland Senate  from $1.60 into $1.45.

Her odds to not be elected went from $2.20 out to $2.60.

About 49% of people are backing her to win a  seat and the remaining 51% reckon she's got no hope.

"Punters remain split on Hanson, but with national support for the one time Member for Oxley pushing up towards 10%, we've had to chop her odds of winning a Senate seat," sportsbet.com.au's Ben Bulmer said.
