Deputy Mayor secures funding for Elizabeth Park playground

NORTH Rockhampton families can look forward to hours of fun when new playground equipment is installed at Elizabeth Park.

Cr Tony Williams said he had secured $22,000 to fund the play equipment after several requests from Berserker residents.

Cr Williams said Elizabeth Park was the perfect location for the new playground, which sits near two sporting clubs and would replace older playground equipment removed by council.

Residents will get to have their say on the final design, with three designs to choose from on Cr Williams' Facebook page.

So far, Cr Williams said people hadn't been afraid to voice their opinions. "I'm overwhelmed with the responses I've got. I didn't think there would be that many people having their say," he said.

One of the main issues raised so far had been a lack of shade and lighting, but Cr Williams said that would be rolled out in stages.

"It looks like it will be enjoyed by a lot of people."

Public consultation will run until this Friday.
