Plans unfold for new Maccas
A NEW 24-hour McDonalds in Gatton is only months from opening.
It will be on the corner of Spencer and William Streets and will provide around 80 new jobs.
Licensee Shane Doyle said many new McDonalds restaurants such as this is don't take long to be built and will be half-complete when it is delivered on a truck.
“McDonalds have just started doing pre-fabricated restaurants so our site is already half-built down in Victoria,” Mr Doyle said.
“We are still waiting for final operational works approvals before they commence which could come as early as next week.
“It is about a 12-week process from when we break ground and we are hoping for early March 2011 at this stage for it to be fully operational as a free standing restaurant, drive-thru and McCafe.”
He said they would start operating the drive thru on a 24-hour basis until they figured out the demand.
“We are also looking to hire about 80 new staff, both part-time and casual, as well as about six to eight managers,” Mr Doyle said.
Mr Doyle added he had already appointed a full management team with some existing staff at the other store being promoted.
He said there will be a certain amount of experienced staff from the store on the highway coming to the new store.
“Once we have commenced on staff we will be looking to hire.”
“I think it will be a good boost for the community and we are really looking forward to it,” Mr Doyle said.
“We have commenced and the current opening date is scheduled for late May, but could be delayed due to rain.
“It is an interesting project because it is a prefabricated restaurant in Victoria and shipped up on the truck.
“The arrival of the shipment is scheduled for late April and in late March we will have a better idea of the progress.”
