People evacuated near burning restaurant at Airlie Beach
POLICE found a restaurant on fire at Airlie Beach this morning
Around 1.55am, police patrolling on Airlie Esplanade noticed smoke coming from a restaurant.
People staying in a nearby back packers and a hotel were evacuated, but have since been able to return to their accommodation before the fire was extinguished.
No one has suffered any injures as a result of the fire.
Police will guard the scene until specialist officers attend later this morning.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
