Inseparable dogs in foster care seek new home together

MISSY and Pepper arrived at a foster home in very different circumstances but despite their struggles they have forged an unbreakable bond.

Now, they are looking for a loving place to call their forever home.

About three months ago Pepper, a three-year-old poodle cross papillon arrived at 4 Paws Animal Rescue heavily matted and underweight. Missy, a seven-year-old female poodle cross was extremely anxious when she first arrived.

Under the care and nurturing of a 4 Paws foster carer, the dogs have found a new lease on life - and each other.

4 Paws president Julie Penlington said the dogs' recovery was boosted by the fact they were able to be assimilated into a family's life while waiting for a permanent home.

"Pepper has now had some weight put on him and he has been desexed and he has given Missy confidence and strength," she said.

"Missy went in for a dental appointment and Pepper was so happy to see her when she came back that he was kissing and licking her all over.

"They sleep together and are totally dependent on each other.

"They have had a bit of a tough life and they have bonded so well. It is so wonderful to see them blossom."

Ms Penlington said the pair would be suited to a cat-free home with someone who could house them inside and liked to take walks.

"They walk beautifully on a leash and because they are poodle crosses, they will need brushing and grooming," she said.

"They have learnt to trust again and we don't want to destroy that trust so we will be looking to home them together."

Ms Penlington said their recovery was a testament to the tireless work of the volunteers who provide foster homes for animals.

"They put in a lot of time, effort and love and we have successfully re-homed hundreds of 4 Paws dogs," she said.

"We've been lucky with double homes too, if two dogs come in together we always re-home them together and although Missy and Pepper came to us separately, they have bonded so well we will also re-home them together."
