Paul Pisasale 'not currently fit' to be questioned: Lawyer

EMBATTLED former mayor Paul Pisasale remains in a mental health clinic and "is not currently fit" to be questioned by any authority, a court has heard.

The ex-politician was scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on his latest charges on Tuesday morning, however solicitor Glen Cranny told the court his client was still in the New Farm Clinic and there are "some serious health concerns".

Pisasale was charged by the Crime and Corruption Commission last week with two counts of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

It came just weeks after extortion and other charges were also laid against Pisasale.

Noting the former mayor was in a "show-cause position," Magistrate Anthony Gett said he was not prepared to grant Pisasale bail without him being present, and said a warrant would lie on file until the next court date.

Pisasale is required to appear when the matter returns to court on August 23.
